The aim of this edition of the matching event is to bring together academics from different fields within cultural heritage, who wish to meet and work together on a specific topic that includes particular attention to rural areas, so as to challenge the way they are often perceived and represented in popular culture.
Through one-to-one interviews and informal exchanges with colleagues, the goal of this two-day event is to encourage the academic community and socioeconomic stakeholders to start building new opportunities, with a stronger voice for rural communities, which are an integral part of the future of UNITA and Europe.
For this particular event, topics of interest may be (but are not limited to):
- Revitalizing rural areas through architecture, land development, geoparks
- Connecting rural communities through literary, cultural and artistic events (such as festivals, performances, artist’s residences)
- Developing rural observatories and the collection of data through research
- Studying the representation of rural areas across media and time (landscape, natural elements, ruins)
